November 2007
Our family is thriving and having a great year!

Curtis is our newest, born in January, and has grown up so much in the last few months. He thinks he’s one of the big kids! The other day I was talking to Karina’s teacher when Karina and Trevor asked if they could go visit the guinea pigs in the next classroom. As they were leaving, down wanted Curtis from my arms to crawl right after them, into the other classroom! Yes, he does indeed think he is big. (He still likes his mama a lot, though, and wants to be in her arms if she is ever doing something interesting like baking, doing laundry, organizing the cupboard, etc.)

Enoch’s most valued possession is his little black car. One day, I said to my boys in frustration over their messy room, “Maybe I should just go get a box, put all of these things in it and send it off to the DI!” To which Enoch jumped up, exclaiming, “Where’s my black car? Where’s my black car?”, dug through the toys until he found it, put it into his (otherwise empty) toy bucket, and sat down, relieved, ready to give everything else away. I guess that’s one way to figure out what really matters to us!

Trevor loves to learn. He loves doing what he calls “homework” and so, yes, he does it for a good portion of every day! Worksheets, worksheets, and worksheets! He also loves to write books and songs. Here’s part of a song that he recently wrote:
I love to sing so much
I love Jesus and He does too
He loves me so much
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
He made a pretty world so much
Oh, he sure did
He’s a real people
He’s the best one of all

Karina is enjoying first grade, her friends, and her family, as always. This girl knows what is important and acts that way. Her list of things that she is thankful for is inspiring, for she is thankful for all those things that really matter: family, grandparents, aunts and uncles, Heavenly Father, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. She is also, as I’m sure you all know, a very smart girl. The other day we passed the store “Kitchen Kneads”, which she has seen many times before, but this day, she looked at it with her intellectual eye: “Mom!,” she told me, very excited, “Kneads has two phonograms in it! The ‘ea’ phonogram and the ‘kn’ phonogram, just like in know!” I love her enthusiasm!

Kenna had the trip of a lifetime this year, as she, Aaron, & Curtis, headed off to Denmark, a trip planned and marked for this year for the past ten years. (Aaron likes to joke that this was our only “prenuptial” agreement. Before we got married, I told him that I was going to Denmark in 2007 and he was welcome to join me if he’d like. He didn’t argue.) It was a fabulous trip to the land of my ancestors, all I could ever dream it to be, and now, if possible, I love Denmark even more!

Aaron has been busy the past four months, since he is still the Dean at American Heritage School of Cache Valley, and now does flight instructing at Utah State University too! He enjoys being in the teacher seat again, this time training all the CFI candidates. His only complaint: not enough time with his family! He makes the most of the time he does have. When Daddy is home, he is DAD,which means that the kids have "quality time" even if they don't have a whole lot of time. We take advantage of those weekends!
