Random Things About Me That May (or may not) Surprise You

1. I LOVE being a Mom. I mean, more than usual. People think I'm crazy, but I can't figure out why because everything about Motherhood is worth it.
2. I miss those I love before they are even gone. (Sending my kids to school is HARD.)
3. I love to garden, even though I am admittedly not very good at keeping out the weeds.
4. I love the smell of dirt!
5. I also love the smell of sawdust.
6. I have a secret dream of becoming an expert carpenter. (I'm full of such good ideas!)
7. I believe in whole wheat flour. Perhaps that's why my neighbor tells me that my cookies take some getting used to. :)
8. I know most of the Veggie Tales Silly Songs by memory.
9. I am designing a house with Aaron that is built around Karina. We like to joke that it will be Karina's house and we'll get to live there with her. It's pretty cool.
10. I admire artists and their artistic eye that finds the beauty to photograph, paint, or even scrapbook.
11. I respect art but cannot duplicate it. No matter how I try. I guess it is just not one of my talents.
12. In a spontaneous vote among my children and husband, I came in dead last in silliness.
13. The fact from #12 shocked my mom, brothers and sisters, and a cousin. (Believe me, I have some tough competition!)
14. I like to speak in silly accents for no apparent reason.
15. When I was visiting the British Isles years ago, I started speaking with a British accent without thinking, and then decided that it would probably be considered rude... so I stopped.
16. When I lived in Belarus (speaking Russian), I got more compliments on my Russian accent than I did my Russian vocabulary and speaking ability.
17. Belarus is one of my favorite countries in the world. Now how many people can say that?
18. I haven't yet, but I would really like to try cloth diapers.
19. My babies often sleep in my bed by me, and I love it.
20. I am a wealth of knowledge if I (or my kids) have been through it. I love to research.
21. We don't have cable or satellite in our house.
22. We do watch movies. And we have a subscription to Netflix.
23. My husband and I love to watch Stargate together. (Yes, I said I actually enjoy it, not just tolerate it for Aaron's sake.)
24. I had never seen Stargate until I met Aaron.
25. Now I have seen every single episode of Stargate SG-1 ever aired.
26. And we own the made for DVD movie to help conclude the series.
27. I have left pieces of my heart all over the world - Russia, Belarus, Denmark to name a few.
28. I lived in Russia for 5 months and Belarus for 9 months and had experiences that changed my life for the better in both places.
29. I still miss the people I left there.
30. I only visited Denmark for two weeks, but when I left, I felt like a piece of my heart was left there. I am sure it is because of my Danish roots.
31. Aaron has spoiled me. I no longer like microwave popcorn. I need the good, old fashioned stove top kind.
32. I love spending time at the Geneology Library. (I was half the age of any other member in my Danish geneology class a few years ago.)
33. I have no desire to every try skydiving. Or cliff jumping. Or anything like it.
34. I am afraid of heights only in situations where I could get hurt. Put me in a helicopter and I am just fine. Put me on the edge of a cliff and I am not.
35. Do you know how it feels to jump off a moving train? I do. It hurts. But I did make my stop in Poland.
36. I want to own a horse. Or goat. Or something that can carry my Karina hiking in the mountains.
37. I want to own chickens because I want their eggs.
38. I still miss my Nikon D80.
39. Sometimes I live in an impromptu musical. My son Trevor often joins me.
40. I always thought I'd get married at 28 years old. I'm glad Aaron changed my plans.
41. Before I met Aaron, I had visions of saving the world, one orphanage at a time.
42. I still have those dreams.
43. One of my best friends is my mom.
44. I love the game Hand and Foot.
45. Candyland is highly overrated. I prefer Memory, UNO, Guess Who, the list may go on.
46. I can't stand Dora the Explorer's voice. She is a yeller.
47. I am not good at calling anyone on the phone. I do like it when people call me.
48. I love everything about the mountains.
49. I am 30 years old.
50. I would not trade a single year of the past 30 years of my life to be younger. I hope I feel the same when I'm 80.
