| Click Here to see the Denmark Book Online | Denmark!! The year 2007… How long have I looked forward to this year? Oh yes, since 1997 when I, and my cousin Kari, planned the trip to Denmark for this very year – the year we turn 30. In those intermediate 10 years, of course, much has happened. Most significantly, I met Aaron, who came along with me on this dream vacation to the land of my ancestors. Curtis did too, born in January of this very year. Also my parents, two sisters, and some uncles, aunts & cousins! It was so fun! I missed Karina, Trevor, & Enoch, but they had an adventure of their own, as they set off to visit Grandma Dyches for the two weeks we were gone. Memories to last a lifetime. Finally arrived! There are not words to describe how I felt standing on the farms where my ancestors lived and loved and grew and dealt with life, just like I am doing today. Perhaps we have a special connection with those in our family who have passed on before us, and perhaps we always have a special place in our hearts for the places we are from, and so perhaps those ancestors helped to create that special feeling that was there. Perhaps. In any case, I felt a connection with that place, and when I left, I felt like I was leaving a dear, dear place that I had known and loved for much longer than two weeks. Anyway, laugh if you must at my cheesiness, but check out the pictures of Denmark anyway if you want. The “book” has four sections: Ancestral Parishes, Life As It Was , Denmark As It Is, and Trip Memories, so skip around to whatever interests you most! Thanks for visiting and drop me a line so I know you’ve been here! Ancestral Parishes
(towns where my ancestors lived, adventures like hiking
to my ancestor's homestead):starts on page 2 I know! It's a long book! But it's easy to flip through. It may take awhile to open... sorry. Also, I made the file sizes smaller to put it online. If you want to see the bigger file (and so, of course, better quality), please e-mail me and I will send you that one. Thanks. |
