April Showers Bring May Flowers...
But What Does April SNOW bring?
16 April 2008

In my house, it brings a happy 3 year old bundled up to play in the snow again! (Love that outside Enoch boy)

not outside, but there he is!

A 1 year old that watches out the window, fascinated by what he sees (then again, Curtis loves to watch out the window any time, any weather, any light)

and a Girl, who can't work in her garden at school (Karina planted forget-me-nots in 70 degree weather on Monday, and then it froze overnight and snowed on Tuesday)

this is Monday

It also brings conversation among neighbors and community, who are mostly SO READY for it to stay spring!

For the record (because I know some of you will wonder), I didn't mention Trevor because the snow didn't affect him either way! Just content, this boy is.

Cuties!
7 April 2008

Have I ever mentioned that my kids are cute?! I'm not just talking about those big blue eyes or their great smiles.

I am talking about their personalities!

Have you ever stepped back and just watched the ones you love interact with each other?

When I watch my kids play with each other, I smile, I laugh, I love it.

And while it won't be the same for you as it is for me (they are my kids after all),
here are a few scenes from my heart that I'll share with you:

Karina is really into "boats" lately in our living room. She and Trevor and Enoch will play for hours as they sit on their boats (chairs or couch), walk across bridges (piano bench) and just add to the fantasy world ("Sharks!"). They are so creative!

Trevor is learning how to read! He can spend hours doing literacy games and books that we found on the internet. He always has company: Karina, Enoch, and Curtis all like to watch. I love to watch Trevor include them all. For example, when they design their own snowman, they will each pick a part or take turns designing it all.

At the end of the above books or games, the computer will ask "Did you like this book?" and no matter what, Curtis shakes his head "no". All the kids get a kick out of it. Sometimes they ask it themselves just to see his response.

I love to watch Curtis get Karina and Karina get Curtis! These two are so funny as they tackle, dodge, and steamroller!

Enoch is a song man lately. If he's playing, he'll break out in song. If music is playing, he'll try to sing along - whether he knows the song or not. He encourages others to sing too! I've heard Trevor sing a lot more lately because of Enoch!
And Enoch is observant, noticing lines in songs that tickle his funny bone and when he shares it with the rest of us, we laugh and laugh!

Curtis has a phrase!
1 April 2008

Curtis now says his first phrase, and although not grammatically correct, I think it's pretty great.

He says, "Me That!" (But he actually says it "Me Dat!") and sometimes his inflection is like this: "Me Dat?"

and you can probably guess that it means "I want that" or "May I have that?"

Pretty cute.

And he understands so much. Example: "Go into the kitchen, Curtis", "Trevor will help you", "Let's go change your diaper", etc
and he follows instructions so well. If I tell him it's time to go, he goes and finds his shoes. Hooray for Curtis!
